Over decades, a boutique of consultants, industrial psychologists, and specialist lawyers--spending an estimated $340 million a year--has played a significant role in subduing the labor movement, and has helped keep U.S. unions pinned down to this day.
The union alleges that Apple has violated labor laws and made a fair election impossible. A vote was scheduled for next week. If successful, it would have been the first unionized Apple store in the United States.
The company has also sent anti-union text messages to workers and posted anti-union banners in its facilities in the lead-up to a union election at its Bessemer, Alabama facility.
The memo discovery comes just a month after a report drew attention to two Amazon job listings posted in August seeking “intelligence analysts” to research “labor organizing threats against the company.”
